We are excited to welcome you to our presentation about library services. We will be sharing our recently updated website with many newly subscribed to resources added as well as our interactive news updates blog. This presentation will take place during the PET morning on 31st October at 8.30am. Please feel free to explore our website before next week and we can address any questions you have. We look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday 31st.
As we head into the October break we would like to take the opportunity to ask you if you would like to contribute to our growing foreign language collection of resources. We are always happy to receive books in the mother tongue languages of our students so if you have recommendations or are happy to donate materials which your own children have enjoyed we would welcome them for our catalogue.
With over 40 nationalities of students at PSI, a wide number of languages are represented. We have a substantial and ever growing foreign language collection, currently holding materials in Ukrainian, Russian, Spanish, Korean, French, German and Dutch. In order to add a new language we require a minimum of five titles. We have now finalised all the subscriptions for this school year. Please see Subscriptions Login Details 2017/2018 where you will find all login and password information.
You can follow the links that are also accessible through PSI Library to access subscription websites and databases. There are separate links for primary and secondary students so please follow the link to the area most suitable to your needs. For example, History Today digital archive gives you access to everything published in History Today since the magazine was founded in 1951, Image Quest hosts around 2 million images from more than 40 of the best collections in the world including National Geographic society and Dorling Kindersley. Tumblebooks is an online library of picture books. JSTOR Global Plants is a new subscription that brings together content, tools, and people interested in plant science. Please note that EBSCO has now been replaced with JSTOR that provides access to more than 10 million academic journal articles, books, and primary sources in 75 disciplines. We also have some excellent hard copy resources in the library and encourage you to spend some time browsing both our digital access and print collection. Perhaps you have noticed some gaps in our library collection? As we are finalising our Autumn orders, if you have any recommendations or suggestions for titles you would like to see in either library, please free to add your suggestions to this document by Wednesday, 11th October. This could include fiction books that you want your children to read as well as non-fiction topics that you would like to see better coverage of, especially related to topics that are explored in class. Your suggestions are extremely valuable and will help us to decide what titles to purchase this year. Books that are approved for purchase will be available for circulation in February 2018. |
